Blue Mage Savage Guides
Even though it’s a Limited Job, Blue Mage does actually have endgame content! We have access to all of the Savage raids for which we meet the level requirements, and we can get rewards for completing them.
Rewards
For each raid series that we have access to (Bahamut, Alexander, Omega, and Eden) we have achievements associated with completing the final floor of each tier. The requirements to get the achievement are that we do it with a full group of Blue Mages while synced and with Echo silenced.
Each of the final raids will reward a “Mightier than X” achievement, where X has something to do with the boss that was killed:
- T5: Mightier than the Dragon
- T9: Mightier than the Raven
- T13: Mightier than the Dreadwyrm
- A4S: Mightier than the Manipulator
- A8S: Mightier than Justice
- A12S: Mightier than the Prime
- O4S: Mightier than the Delta
- O8S: Mightier than the Sigma
- O12S: Mightier than the Alpha
- E4S: Mightier than the Gate
- E8S: Mightier than the Verse
- E12S: Mightier than the Promise
On top of individual achievements for each fight, there are meta-achievements for completing entire raid series:
- T5, T9, T13: Blue Unchained achievement and “Unbound Blue” title
- A4S, A8S, A12S: Masked Conqueror achievement and “Blue Justice” title
- Blue Unchained, Masked Conqueror: True Blue achievement and Morbol mount
- O4S, O8S, O12S: Omega Blue and “The Azure and Omega” title
- E4S, E8S, E12S: Bluetopia and “Forbidden Blue” title
Raid Preparation
Required Spells
Before you start raiding you should have all spells. When I say “all spells” I really mean all spells. Learning spells for us is the equivalent of completing job quests on other jobs.
If you look at the spell loadouts in the Gameplay
section you’ll see that every loadout includes
Angel Whisper,
which is a reward for completing 30 stages in the Masked Carnivale. Completing
the Masked Carnivale is dramatically easier than any of the Savage raids, so if
you’re struggling to do that then you aren’t ready for raiding, anyway.
Both the DPS and Tank loadouts include spells that require learning at least 100 total spells. These spells are non-negotiable, and 100 is already nearly every spell, anyway.
Required Gear
You can take a look at the Recommended Gear Sets to see what the recommended gear is. Gear makes very little difference overall, but it is incredible easy for us to get. As long as you are wearing level-appropriate gear and are able to execute your rotation properly, gear mostly doesn’t matter.
Difficulty
Doing synced Savage raids as a Blue Mage is still doing synced Savage raids at the end of the day. Some things will be harder and some things will be easier. Because of potency creep and the way that the fights work, the Bahamut and Alexander fights will generally be a lot easier on Blue Mage. Because of our massive burst we are able to skip a lot of mechanics and phases that are determined by boss HP values.
That being said, any mechanic that is role-based ends up being effectively random for us because we’re all DPS, so certain mechanics can be a little bit more difficult. Some fights will be substantially harder on Blue Mage than with traditional jobs, like most of the Omega or Eden series.
Recommended Order
People always want to know what order to do the raids in, or which is easiest, etc. The actual difficulty for each raid will vary from group to group, but in general this is the order in which they should be done (by difficulty):
- T5, T9, and A4S
- T13 and A12S
- A8S
- Omega series
- Eden series
As I said it will vary from group to group. My very first Blue Mage static blasted through A8S but struggled immensly with T13 and took longer on A12S than A8S. It mostly depends on how comfortable your group is with raid-style mechanics in general.
