Getting Started With Blue Mage

Blue Mage is an interesting job in that there isn’t really an obvious path to getting started on the job. In general, this is the expected order in which you can tackle content:

• Unlock Blue Mage.
• Reach level cap.
• Learn all overworld (non-duty) spells.
• Pick up totem spells that are currently available to you. The important ones are White Wind and Mighty Guard.
• Learn Aetheric Mimicry from the first boss in Pharos Sirius (Hard). This can be done solo unsynced, since the adds spawn continuously.
• Start learning spells from 4-player duties either solo or in a party. You should also start your job quests and complete any Masked Carnivale stages you are capable of
• Start learning spells from 8-player duties in a party. This is easiest if you do it in expansion order (starting with A Realm Reborn). You should also try to finish Masked Carnivale and learn Angel Whisper.

At each step you should be trying to complete your job quests. Spells that are required for job quests are a guaranteed learn from dungeons even if unsynced. Gear doesn’t matter much and you can use Tomestone of Poetics gear once you reach level cap.
