Required Spells

  • Exuviation

Act 1

In this stage we have to fight Siegfried, a familiar face from FFVI. He opens up with Magic Drain which reflects magical spells, so we need to use only physical spells. He follows up with Ankle Gaze which applies a Bind to us, followed by Hyperdrive which is a sequence of three ground-targeted AOEs on top of us. Cleanse the Bind with Exuviation and keep moving to avoid the Hyperdrive AOEs.

Next Siegfried will cast Magitek Explosive and spawn a bunch of bombs around the arena. There will be one safe spot which is in the “back right” of the arena if you are facing Siegfried. He casts Rubber Bullet which is a knockback, so position yourself close to him and aim yourself to get knocked back into the safe space. The positioning is a little bit tight, but you do have a brief period to adjust your positioning after the knockback. Refer to the video above to see what that looks like. Siegfried loops these mechanics for the rest of the fight and also drops Magic Drain, so you can use magical spells at this point.

Act 2

Act 2 is much more difficult and it’s really just because of one mechanic that people struggle with. Siegfried opens up with Law of the Torch which is a three-cone AOE. You can dodge this by going all the way to one side or by standing in the safe space between two cones. Next he will cast Swiftsteel, which is a knockback followed by a donut AOE and several ground-targeted AOEs. Stand close to the center so you don’t get knocked back too far, then move into a safespot after the knockback.

After Swiftsteel, Siegfried will jump to you and cast Sparksteel, which spawns a fire puddle directly underneath him and creates a bunch of other puddles around the arena. Dodge the fire and make your way towards the center of the arena. Siegfried will cast Shattersteel next, which is what tends to cause people the most trouble. There will be a point-blank AOE around Siegfried and he will spawn a bunch of ice crystals around the perimeter of the arena. After a delay these will explode and freeze you, but there is going to be one gap in the circle of ice crystals. Quickly identify where the gap is and move at the very edge of the arena in the gap. If you did this correctly, the crystals will all explode and you won’t get hit. After this, Siegfried will jump to different sides of the arena and cast Law of the Torch three times, so just dodge this the same as before. Siegfried will just repeat mechanics for the rest of the fight from this point.

Act 3

Act 3 is a combination of the previous two acts, but it’s simpler than it sounds. Siegfried himself will primarily do Act 1 mechanics and spawns adds that do the Act 2 mechanics. If the adds are killed quickly enough then they won’t actually do their mechanics. Siegfried starts with Magic Drain, so be very careful of any AOE attacks during this act. He will immediately spawn a clone that is vulnerable to Ice and uses Swiftsteel. While this is happening, Siegfried will start jumping around and using Law of the Torch. Kill the add while avoiding the AOEs.

Siegfried follows up with Ankle Graze and Hyperdrive, so cleanse yourself with Exuviation and dodge the AOEs. He will then use Law of the Torch again and spawn a clone that is vulnerable to Wind and uses Sparksteel. Kill it quickly while dodging AOEs. Any puddles that the clone spawns do remain active after it is dead, so be careful of your movement afterwards.

Siegfield will use Ankle Gaze and Hyperdrive again, so just handle it the same way as before. He will then refresh Magic Drain and spawn his final clone which is vulnerable to Fire. This one is the scariest because it uses Shattersteel. Kill it ASAP; if you kill it quickly enough then the ice crystals don’t do anything. Even if they’re on the screen, as long as the clone is dead they will not explode. From this point on Siegfried will just spam Ankle Graze, Hyperdrive, and Law of the Torch until he’s defeated.

Achievement Info

The achievement “None More Blue,” which rewards the title “Champion of the Blue,” is earned by completing this stage while earning the “Celestium’s Finest” feat. This is accomplished by completing this stage while satisfying these requirements:

  • Can’t Touch This
  • Total Mastery
  • Too Fast, Too Furious (6:30 or faster)
  • Kill all three Siegfried clones in Act 3

There is no tangible difference in strategy, you just need to complete the stage quickly while avoiding damage and getting Total Mastery. Since we’re not going to be taking damage, and we’re not supposed to heal, you can use DPS mimicry to make it faster. You can finish Siegfried with Final Sting and still get the achievement. Since you have to kill all three clones in Act 3, I would recommend doing this in Act 2, instead. A fully-buffed Final Sting will deal about 55% of Siegfried’s health, so you could potentially skip Shattersteel. The time requirement on this is much tighter than it was for Azulmagia, so you may want to hold off on doing this until you have most of your spells.
