Stage 25: Dirty Rotten Azulmagia

Video Guide

Note

This guide assumes that you have read the Basics & Spell Recommendations page and have the baseline spells recommended there.

Required Spells

  • Loom

Act 1

This is the first proper “boss” stage. Azulmagia starts out by casting Ice Spikes which reflects any physical damage back at us, so we must use magical spells. He will cast The Ram’s Voice and The Dragon’s Voice, so get out or in to dodge them, respectively. Apocalyptic Bolt is a line AOE that can be sidestepped. The tricky part of this fight is Plaincracker which starts as a point-blank AOE but grows into large donut AOEs. This can be combined with Apocalyptic Roar, a big cone AOE, so plan your movement carefully while dodging!

Act 2

Act 2 is similar to Act 1 overall, but this time Azulmagia uses Repelling Spray and reflects magical damage, so now we need to use physical spells. The mechanics are essentially the same, except he will eventually cast Blazing Angon and spawn two swords on the ground like Frumious Koheel Ja in The Wanderer’s Palace (Hard). These have very little HP and die in 1-2 casts but they need to be killed before they blow up.

Act 3

Act 3 is similar to the previous two acts but adds even more complexity. Azulmagia will start with Repelling Spray, so you can only use physical spells. Dodge his attacks just like before and eventually he will cast Charybdis, which spawns four tornadoes on the intercardinals of the arena. Pick any cardinal direction and move to the edge of the arena. Shortly after, Azulmagia casts Web which applies a strong Heavy effect, followed by Meteor which is a huge circle AOE. This can be avoided by using Loom to get to safety. It may require two casts if your aim isn’t great, but there is plenty of time. Meteor leaves behind a huge fire puddle so make sure you don’t step in it. Azulmagia will then cast Ice Spikes so now we need to switch to using magical spells. At this point he goes back to casting Plaincracker with Apocalyptic Bolt and Apocalyptic Ray. This is very tough to dodge, but at this point the fight will just repeat mechanics so if you’ve been fine until now you’ll continue to be fine.

Achievement Info

The achievement “Something Borrowed,” which rewards the title “Perfect Blue,” is earned by completing this stage while earning the “Perfect Blue” feat. This is acomplished by completing this stage while satifsying these requirements:

  • Can’t Touch This
  • Total Mastery
  • Ain’t Got Time to Bleed
  • Too Fast, Too Furious (7:15 or faster)

There is no difference in strategy, you just need to complete the stage quickly while avoiding damage and getting Total Mastery. Since we’re not going to be taking damage, and we’re not supposed to heal, you can use DPS mimicry to make it faster. You can finish Azulmagia with Final Sting and still get the achievement as long as he doesn’t have the Ice Spikes debuff up. A fully-buffed Final Sting will deal about 60% of Azulmagia’s health, which allows you to skip quite a bit of the fight.
