Masked Carnivale
The Masked Carnivale is a set of solo duties for Blue Mage, and it’s where the bulk of our job quests take place. It was originally introduced alongside the job itself during Stormblood. Since then, it’s been updated each time there is a major Blue Mage update! Many of the stages act as puzzles requiring specific spells or combinations of spells in order to be cleared. Some of the stages are “boss” stages which are more difficult encounters approaching Extreme trial difficulty!
The Masked Carnivale is actually a really good teaching tool for learning how to play Blue Mage and how its spells interact with each other. Solving the stages yourself can be very rewarding and fun, but if you are just looking for a quick solution or some advice on how to clear a stage, you can find a guide for each stage on the sidebar.
Why should I do the Masked Carnivale?
Because it’s fun! There are some actually good rewards for completing stages, though! Some stages are required to progress the Blue Mage job quest, which allows us to access Blue Mage job gear and rewards from the Blue Mage vendor.
On top of gear, there are some spells locked behind completing some number of stages:
-
Moon Flute for completing 10 stages; this is one of our most important spells!
-
Doom for completing 20 stages
-
Angel Whisper for completing 30 stages; this is also one of our most important spells and is not just for healers.
Some stages even have achievements associated with completing them in certain ways. If a stage has an achievement tied to it, it will be mentioned on that stage’s guide page. Some of these achievements even reward titles, such as:
- “Perfect Blue” from Stage 25: Dirty Rotten Azulmagia
- “Champion of the Blue” from Stage 30: The Catch of the Siegfried
- “Of the Truest Blue” from Stage 31: Anything Gogo's
- “Glitterier than Goldor” from Stage 32: A Golden Opportunity
One final reason for completing the Masked Carnivale is that it rewards Allied Seals. You earn some for completing stages in general, but there are also weekly targets which can reward 550 Allied Seals in total each week. You can buy Aetheryte Tickets for 5 Allied Seals each, so for a very small amount of time investment you can get 110 free teleports every week. It might not seem like a lot, but over time it adds up to quite a bit. I haven’t paid for a single teleport since I unlocked Blue Mage!
